ABOUT
Jensin Okunishi Studio (JOS) is a custom rug studio exploring the immersive power of color and form through contemporary design. Founded by Jensin Okunishi in Japan in 2019 and now based in Atlanta— JOS offers an escape from the ordinary through richly considered, hand knotted Nepalese rugs. Time-honored tradition meets modern pattern play in a hand crafted rug that can last a lifetime.
Prior to founding the studio, Okunishi worked as a designer at Eileen Fisher– a pioneer of sustainable fashion, where she deepened her understanding of circularity, material integrity, ethical labor and the value of creating objects that are enduring.
The studio’s work has been exhibited at ALCOVA Miami, the Kingston Design Showhouse, and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF). Okunishi was named to DWELL magazine’s DWELL 24, and has been featured in by publications such as Wallpaper, The Architects’s Newsletter, Business of Home, and COVER, marking a growing presence within the international design landscape. Okunishi has collaborated with interior designers in the US and Japan.
As a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, where she studied Textile Design, Okunishi continues to explore how traditional craft can be reimagined for modern interiors.
