Jensin Okunishi walks down a street in Berlin.

Jensin Okunishi Studio is a contemporary rug studio formed by Jensin Okunishi. Okunishi is an American born designer creating dialogue between color, emotion and memory. Her studio celebrates colorful contemporary design and quality craftsmanship that offers an escape from the routine and ordinary.

Jensin Okunishi Studio rugs are designed in Japan and entirely handmade in Nepal by trusted artisans. Each rug is custom made using the Tibetan knotting technique using 100% Himalayan wool.

Okunishi is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design where she studied Textile Design and currently lives in Japan.

The wellbeing of our partner artisans and their communities are important to Okunishi. Since founding Jensin Okunishi Studio, Okunishi has worked with Good Weave to end child labor, forced labor, and bonded labor in global supply chains.
